Hilo Rojo
We finally got the privilege of meeting Paola De La Rosa and her cute pug doggy, Horchata of Hilo Rojo. After the photo shoot and getting to know her we both felt uplifted and inspired. She’s the coolest person with the most impeccable taste; which you’ll notice the second you walk into her perfectly curated stores. Paola has been working with artisans for over 15 years, supporting Mexican and indigenous people with traditional crafts to sell their truly authentic products at a fair price. She shared stories of the artists in her shops like of a nearly blind man in his 90’s still hand making ‘jarras’ for pulque and a young designer skvmviolante making the most awesome shirts using natural materials inspired by Mexican pop culture and natural scenes of Mexico, also burns their tees with Palo Santo! Everything in her store is handmade and full of incredible energy.
Her boutique in El Centro carries everything from clothing, accessories, hats, shoes, to small home decor items. Her furniture store by Las Tunas carries everything from baskets, rugs, textiles, plates, chairs, to unique wall art like a rug made out of palms shaped as the map of Mexico! Many of the items include tags that reveal the amount of hours/days/weeks it takes to hand make. Most items are limited, and nothing is mass produced.
Her vision in combining traditional Mexico decor and clothing with a new modern twist is something you will only find here. Her clothing boutique is located at Calle Centenario 25, Centro, 23300 Todos Santos, B.C.S. and her furniture store is located at Las Playitas, 23300 Todos Santos, B.C.S. During your stay in Todos Santos definitely go see Paola, her love and passion in supporting artisans truly shines through in her Hilo Rojo stores. You can also follow along on IG: @hilorojostores
