Taller 17
We were strolling around town when we discovered Taller 17, there was a long line of people waiting outside, as we got closer we started to smell the most incredible pastries and coffee coming out of this little corner shop. We obviously got behind that line and wow! *mind blown. Born and raised in Todos Santos, Juliana Ortega, the magician behind the oven tells us that baking is something she has always loved to do, often after school or work she would go home and bake something up. 4 years ago after living in other countries and multiple US cities she decided to move back to Todos Santos where she set up a small corner space to bake by her aunt’s home. “I just wanted to bake, it made me happy and then people starting knocking on my door asking if they could purchase what I was making, it all quickly evolved and grew from there.” Juliana humbly says. We are not surprised at all, her pastries are absolutely delicious! A few of favorites are the blueberry scones, banana muffins, peanut butter cookies, carrot cake muffins, and well, um.. pretty much everything else she bakes! And then the coffee, oh the coffee! Cinthia who joined Taller 17 two years ago makes the most delicious coffee, we love her vanilla lattes.
Taller 17 in our opinion is legendary. It’s a local and out of towners favorite, we send all of our guests to Taller 17 and they rave about how incredible it is and revisit it many times during their stay, it’s great that it is about a 5 minute walk away from us. What makes this place extra special is Juliana and her team, they treat their customers like family. A couple of months ago we had a guest stay with us, he’d go Taller 17 almost daily and on his birthday Juliana surprised him with a Birthday cupcake – this is the kind of coffee shop this is, so incredibly special. As you can tell we love this place and know you will too, you can find Taller 17 Calle Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, Centro, Todos Santos, B.C.S.
Ps. Try the jalapeño and cheese scones!
